A few days ago, we asked for some input on what our readers would like to read. There were some really neat suggestions and some very good questions.
One of the questions that was asked was (I'm summarizing) how do you showcase or decorate with Decorous, or rustic furnishings in general?
As you will see in the links below, there are different ways of decorating with a rustic theme.
Although as a man (I seem to be out of the ordinary when it comes to this), I enjoy interior decorating. My favorite approach to it is what I call a rustic modern style. It includes a lot of natural wood, especially when it comes to the floor and main furnishings. Contrasting the wood with some off white, distressed white, or some shades of tan using things like pillows, curtains, bed spreads, and couch cushions helps it not become gloomy feeling. When it comes to materials, I really like a burlap type material, especially if it has printed vintage style words or pictures. Choosing a few rich, but faded colors and creating a theme with that color in each room will make it a little more interesting and lively.
When it comes to the kitchen and bathroom, using bronze, brass, or brushed stainless steel usually looks quite stunning with the simple lines and rustic colors that we use in our furniture. But don't just take it from me, here are a few links that outline ways to create appealing rustic styles.
